Biography:
Dr. Lopez is from the Pacific Northwest. She received her bachelor's degree from Humboldt State University in Arcata, California and attended veterinary school at the University of California, Davis. After a food animal internship at Kansas State University, Dr. Lopez completed a residency in large animal surgery and obtained MS and PhD degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She then did a post-doctoral fellowship in applied biomechanics. Her areas of interest include tissue regeneration with stem cells, comparative orthopedic research and surgery. Dr. Lopez is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. She has several patents for biomedical devices and has expertise in both applied and basic research. Dr. Lopez joined LSU in January 2004 and directs the Laboratory of Equine and Comparative Orthopedic Research (LECOR).
