Biography:
John P. Hawke is a native of Birmingham, Alabama and has been involved in teaching, research, and diagnostics pertaining to aquatic animal health for over 40 years.

Teaching Interests:
Aquatic animal diseases, bacteriology, pathogenic mechanisms of bacteria.

Research Interests:
Identification of new pathogens of aquatic animals, study of the pathogenic mechanisms of fish pathogenic bacteria, white spot syndrome virus in crawfish, development of vaccines for bacterial pathogens of fish for use in aquaculture.
